General Outline of Level One - The Kitchen Herbalist

Level one is the first year of a three year program. The second and third years focus on developing clinical skills as herbalist. You are welcome to participate in level one because you have a general interest in herbal medicine or because you wish to go further in yours studies to become a master herbalist. If you would like more information on Level 2 & 3, please contact me. 

 

Level one of the apprentice program will provide you with both theoretical and practical knowledge in the use of herbal medicine. The apprenticeship is designed for those with an interest in herbal medicine and wish to use it in their daily lives to benefit themselves and others.
What will you learn:
* You will develop a practical, hands-on knowledge of herbal medicine
* You will understand the theory behind the application of herbs from a holistic point of view

* You will explore how plants interact the human body to create medicine
* You will have confidence in using herbal medicine for yourself, family, friends, and clients
* You will learn how to grow, harvest and make medicine with local herbs

Each month you will receive:

  • An assignment based on a chapter from The Herbal Apprentice: Plant Medicine and The Human Being and The Herbal Appentice Workbook. 

 

Each assignment includes:

  • A Meditation

  • Exercises to uncover your gifts as a healer

  • Exploration of Anatomy and Physiology based on both traditional healing systems and our contemporary views of the body.

  • Discover how plants and the human being interact from both phytochemical and traditional view points.

  • Learn to make creative monographs to help you learn plants

  • Study a how herbalists see the world.

  • Videos about plant medicine to inspire you

  • Make a several forms herbal medicine.

  • Have hands on experience taking a commonly used plants.

Harvesting and Drying Plant Medicine

Camp out July 6, 7 and 8th.

Plant walks, making flower essences, dreaming medicine and wild crafting.

 

Costs:

Total cost is $1545 plus HST 13% tx. 

!st payment of $550.00 plus tax is due upon registration. 

2nd payment is due on $550 1st class, September 22 

3rd payment is due on $445 4th class, December 15

Payments can be made via e-transfer.

Upon registeration a reading list and list of herbs needed will be sent to you. 

 

Other Learning Opportunities.

All apprentices are invitie to come and spend a week in the Mexican Riveria studying plant medicine. Dates and costs to be announced.
